subotai's ati videocard drivers for doom³ review

I WOULD NOT recommend installing those to anyone. I did it myself last night and they caused my card to overheat, making
little white and red sprinkly looking dots all over every object in the
game. I had to roll them back, and it took a 3rd party driver uninstaller
and several tries before I could get my game to work again. Merely
reinstalling th old drivers DID NOT WORK.

Tons of folks had the same problem, but apparently weren't able to fix it.
Avoid the temptation. There was no gain whatsoever for me in installing
them. Instead I got sprinkles AND lost frames. Those jerks.

My comments were in reference to the 4.9 BETA drivers. For now, I would seriously consider avoiding those and stick with the official releases. I think the latest certifified drivers are v4.7, I think.

You need to run the latest “Driver Cleaner 3” to completely wipe out the ATI stuff.

I’m running 4.9 Beta on my desktop. So far so good. And I’m also running the latest Omega with 4.9 on my laptop. They both are running fine.
