17 July 04 - 23:04tribes: vengeance single and multiplayer demos in august
irrational games has announced that they will be releasing two tribes: vengeance demo in august. one is the single player game with one map and will let you use all the weapons. the second is an open beta multiplayer with limited content and is rumored to have two or three maps. for more info on the single player portion of the game, check out eurogamer's review with a bunch of screenshots and junk.

the official doom³ site has been updated with images, wallpapers and media clips for your viewing pleasure. the official release date has been set as august 3.

a second demo for codename: panzers has been released. this is a top down battle sim along the lines of starcraft but with a realistic ww2 theme. i tried out the first demo a couple of months back and really liked what i saw of it before it would crash out to the desktop on me. i was having a bunch of problems with the computer at the time and it could have been a conflict with my onboard sound so now that my computer is running a little smoother, i'm going to have to go back and check out the first demo as well as the new one and see if i can get all the way through them. you can find both demos over on 3dgamers.com. once you've tried your hand as the germans, check out soldiers: heroes of world war II. this game looks to be using the same engine and looks just as good as panzers.

i've never heard of ground control before today but it's worth taking a look at since vivendi universal games is giving the full game away for free over on file planet. this looks like a must see for tribes 2 players as it's using the tribes engine and looks to expand on the use of vehicles with whole bases being able to lift off and fly around the map. check out the trailer on the sierra entertainment site.
